I’m presently working on a number of projects related to the sorting of Americans’ partisan and ideological identities, tracing the convergence between these identities to contextual factors like elite polarization and media fragmentation. I’m also interested in how psychological characteristics and institutional features shape individuals’ attitudes about politics.

Outside of my research, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and golfing when I can find the time. My wife, Marybeth, and I have been slowly renovating our little house in Baton Rouge, and we recently added a small (and spiteful) flock of chickens to our backyard. Luna, our dog, has not been amused. We’re excited to add a tiny human to this odd mix in April of 2015.
